This was very easy to put together. It produces a nice flame. It does not get super hot, but after the lava rocks heat up, it does give off enough heat to take the nip out of a spring night. On the other side of the coin, this shouldn't be to hot to sit around on a warm summer night like a wood fire. Edit: After using this for a couple weeks, I replaced the lava rocks with fire glass. I ordered two 10 lb bags of glass (one dark blue and one light blue) It took about 15 lbs of glass to fill the fire pit. In my opinion, the glass looks much better than the lava rocks that are included. Edit: After a few years of use, this will occasionally not want to stay lit. I have a feeling it is due to the pilot not properly heating up the thermocoil. I knocked it down a star for this. Eventually I want to get an 18x18" piece of tile to cover the fire bowl when not in use, but for now I am using the included vinyl cover once the pit cools.
