I had read where some people were experiencing problems folding / unfolding the chair, but purchased this item given the great reviews overall. This chair is perfect for lengthier outings with my mother-in-law who typically uses a walker. Not too heavy, easy to maneuver, etc. However, I too, experienced the chair "locking up" after a few uses where I found it difficult to unfold and fold without great fight (I may or may not have stomped on it in a parking lot in frustration) and finally it would not unfold more than a quarter of the way no matter what I did. After reading some other responses and determined to resolve the issue, I sprayed lubricant on the hydraulic parts in the front and on the crossbar joint underneath the seat. I just kept working it back and forth as far as it would fold using a medium amount of pressure. Suddenly it let loose and unfolded dropping a part on the floor (pic 1). The chair folded and unfolded with ease afterward. It took me awhile to figure out where it came from. It was the "claw" piece that connects the bar that holds the bottom canvas part of the seat to the bar coming down from the handle (pic 2). My guess is that the claw came dislodged from the bar and perhaps twisted in such a way that it impeded the folding / unfolding of the chair (pic 3). I reattached it correctly (took a little pulling / twisting to get it in place) and the chair continues to fold and unfold with ease. Hopefully this helps someone else! The features of this chair are perfect for our needs, so I am thrilled to have resolved the issue. (I will revise this if something changes.) Good luck!!!
