We have a 7 year old boy and this frame seems like it will have no problem holding up under his antics. We intentionally didn't buy a wood slat frame because we were worried about things like crazy jumping on the bed and broken slats. As a bonus it was cheaper than the wood counterpart we were considering. This box spring came broken down in a cardboard box. Once we opened it up, there were tubular metal pieces, screws, nuts, an allen wrench, and a small wrench. It took one of us about 15 minutes to put together. The directions were easy to follow and picture/diagram based rather than words. The tools held up fine for us. The frame felt sturdy. The cover was fabric and zipped into place over the metal frame once it was built. The cover edge is dark gray and looked nice without a dust ruffle. The cover fit well so we didn't have to fight it into place. It zipped on 3 sides. He's been sleeping with his mattress on it for about a week now and reports that he likes it and that it's comfortable. We like it!
