Works pretty well but be careful...
I purchased this item because I like the occasional ham or turkey sandwich but I normally can't finish a pack of lunch meat before it goes bad. I decided on the deli containers over the Foodsaver sealing bags and zipper bags for a few reasons. First- The Foodsaver sealing bags are expensive making them an undesirable choice for something that you would be opening repeatedly since you lose a few inches of bag each time. Second- The majority of reviews of the zipper bags say they leak in air and you have to purchase an extra attachment on top of bags that you will eventually throw away even if you do wash and reuse them. So far the deli containers have held a good seal and I know they will last a lot longer than the bags. I've had my lunch meats and cheeses sealed in these containers for a couple weeks now and there's no mold or funky smells. The only thing I've discovered that's not so great is that due to the construction of the release valve sitting higher than the top of the lid, they are prone to releasing the vacuum if you slide anything on top of the deli container in the fridge and perturb the valve. The release valve is very easy to pull up and even the slightest movement of it lets air into the container. So the solution is just not to stack anything on top of these but in a cramped fridge like mine every free space is fair game.
