I'm a surgeon, althought not an ENT surgeon, and this thing just plain works.
Some other surgeons refer pejoratively to ENT surgeons as mucus masters, wax yankers, booger pickers, and snot jockeys. I won't stoop that low, but ENT surgeons do dwell in the realm of snot and ear wax, professionally. My cutting is directed elsewhere. Like many others, I can accumulate a buildup of ear wax, which affects hearing, and can even cause tinnitus. or ringing. I bought this windex-bottle-looking-thing hooked up to an irrigation contraption. It is very clever and very effective. The soft, multi-directional irrigation is pretty important. You don't want to puncture your eardrum, so this device prevents that. I have personally proven that it is idiot-proof. A few helpful hints... I found the use of a wax-softeneing agent like Debrox for 15 minutes prior helpful, but it might have been unnecessary. Use body temperature water or you might trigger dizziness. Prime the pump with a few squeezes before insertion to avoid really loud wooshing noises as it expels air first. Stop before the bottle is totally empty, also to avoid really loud noises. Don't be afraid to use two bottles worth per side or more as needed. Place a few drops of a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol in the ear after you are done to avoid infection. This process is described in the instructions. This is a very good product!
