For my purposes, this camera is wonderful. I have this camera in my 97 year-old mother's bedroom so that I can monitor her after she goes to bed. I was using a 720P single band camera for this purpose, but decided to upgrade to this one for the dual band and a better picture. I had no problem at all getting it set up using WIFI. This took all of about 5 minutes. The only problem that I had was positioning it so that I could get a good view of my mother's bed without other furniture blocking the view. I decided to put it on top of a high bookcase, but the camera would not point down enough. It can pan up and even go all the way to the back, but it would point only straight forward and not down. It comes with a stand that can be screwed down, but I didn't want to put screw holes in the top of the bookcase and it wouldn't stand without being screwed down. To get around this problem, I screwed the base/stand onto a small piece of wood (2" x 4"), and then used VELCRO Brand - Extreme Outdoor - Extreme - 1" Wide Tape, 10' - Titanium to attach the piece of wood to the top of the bookcase. This worked great and the camera was stably mounted. The first 3 pictures show the camera mounted to the top of the bookcase. With this camera, I can have a live video on my computer to watch Mom, and can do what I need to do on the computer without constantly having to check on her. The picture quality is the best I've seen so far on a camera of this type. When the lights are on, the video is in color (Picture 4). When the lights are off, the night vision in on in the dark, the video is black and white. The room almost looks like the lights are on even though the room is actually completely dark. (Picture 5) From my computer, I can zoom in on her and can see if she is sleeping or her eyes are open (Picture 6) The camera is set to take a video if it senses any motion. So if she tries to get out of bed after I go to bed, I can view the videos that are saved to an SD card to see what happened. I can also snap a picture that is configured to be saved directly on my computer in a designated folder. (Pictures 4-6) I have the Android software installed on my Samsung Note 4, and have had no problems at all using with WIFI or remotely. In total I have 3 Amcrest Security camers installed, and tried viewing them when I was away from home. Although I normally wouldn't use the remote feature, I just wanted to see if it worked. I chose the option to see 4 cameras at one time (up to 16 cameras can be viewed at one time), and it worked perfectly. I could see a live view on all 3 cameras on my phone. One thing that should be mentioned here is that each camera must be initially set up using an Android or IOS device, but full configuration can be done only on a computer. To view a camera on a computer, you must enter the IP address of your camera as the URL in your browser. You will be prompted to enter your user name and password, and then prompted to get the appropriate plugin for the browser. Once the camera is accessed on your browser, you will have the ability to watch live view, playback of recordings, and can also fine tune the configuration of your camera. Most of the configuration settings available on the browser view are not accessible in the Android and IOS apps,, and must be set up using the browser plugin. Some of the reviews that had a difficult time setting up various functions may have been attempting to configure the camera on the phone software which cannot be done. At this point in time, I am very much impressed with this Amcrest Security Camera, and would highly recommend it.
