Love it!
Hmmm...holy cr@p, that was good. Just got my first one in the mail, had it set up on my Amazon alerts page and was excited to find it waiting for me at my apartment door when I arrived from my Thanksgiving vacation (gotta love Amazon)! Despite some of the other posters' feedback (who felt the sulfur smell was off-putting), I actually increased the eggy sulfur taste and added Kala Namak which I have on hand. It definitely needs to be seasoned, so I added salt and pepper while cooking and sprinkled the Kala Namak while plated. As others mentioned, the texture is quite convincing. The powder mix is easy to prepare and cook. We ate it scrambled for dinner tonight with Fieldroast breakfast sausage (I imagine Gardein sausage patties will be good too), grilled onions, Sweet Earth bacon (I prefer the Upton's brand but the Whole Foods in Pacific Heights SF was out tonight!), sliced tomatoes and jasmine rice with ketchup on the side. I loved it and am so excited to try all the other variations I have in mind - especially French toast, in breakfast burritos, in Pepperidge Farm puff pastry with Follow Your Heart provolone cheese and other FYH brand cheeses (personally not a fan of Daiya cheeses, which although is offered more commercially in restaurants, are vastly inferior taste-wise to FYH), with vegan faux Salmon by Sophie's kitchen, etc. My husband was skeptical about whether the claimed dozen-egg portion on the box is accurate when he opened the container, but we made almost the whole bag which came inside the "egg" carton (did not use a blender, merely whisked in a bowl with cold water from the fridge dispenser). We sprayed canola oil into a non-stick pan and sure enough, it cooked smoothly, quickly and bulked up more than we expected. I have been vegan for 5 years and my husband for at least 10. This is groundbreaking and nostalgic for me personally because I ate eggs very regularly before being vegan. We are hardcore vegans, but still discrimating (and I should add since I am sometimes skeptical of reviews, that I was not given a free sample in exchange for a review and I don't and don't know anyone who works for the company). I also like the clever packaging which adds to the experience. I am glad the product did not fully come in a generic plastic bag off the shelves because the egg "carton" cutely simulates eggs. I noticed it is out of stock on Amazon again, seems like the 2nd time unavailable since it's recent release only a week ago. I guess that is a good sign. It is also difficult to find the product through an Amazon search. I will order five more when it is in stock again since it has a long six-month shelf life without refrigeration. I hope the product is sold cheaper and in bulk portion eventually so it can become more mainstream (like at restaurants). So awesome to know I can enjoy my eggs again. This is another game changer in my cooking repertoire. Chickens around the world are celebrating!
