Sturdy construction, easy to use!
This is a well constructed revolving punch. It works fine ... although I have so far used it solely for punching holes in leather belts. One piece of advice that I got from a tailor who has used these revolving punches since the 1970's ... To prolong the sharpness of the punch edges, put a small piece of strong cloth (denim works fine) above the striker plate (under the leather to be punched). If you inadvertently apply too much force, the punch would bore through the leather and the impact absorbed by the cloth pad above the striker plate. (You would now be 'over-punching' through the leather belt into the cloth pad - instead of 'crashing' the punch against the metal base). SEE MY PHOTOS IN CUSTOMER IMAGES TIP: For those really tough punch hole jobs, I use this technique ... Hold the lower handle (the one with the striker plate) firmly on a flat surface (like a wooden work table). With the lower punch handle anchored on the table top, I simply have to press ONLY the upper handle to bring down the revolving punch head. Using this technique, I can now punch holes in my thick leather belts with less effort! Hope these tips are helpful ...
