Best "White" LED Bulb
Though this bulb is quite dim (at 5W), it's the only "acceptable white" bulb that my husband will let me have in our bedroom. I've found that using a Y-bulb splitter and adding an additional bulb takes care of the brightness issue :) (Oddly enough, the Taotronics bulb in my video review does not work in the splitter at all.)
I'm using red and amber / orange bulbs at night to help maintain my (and also our pets) circadian rhythm. Light, especially daylight or white lights, are the most effective zeitgebers (agents that affect your internal bodily clock). Red and amber light don't negatively affect your wake/sleep cycle as much as white light and are ideal for using at night. Alternatively, using full spectrum or daylight bulbs in the morning are one of the most effective/most natural ways to wake up!
PROS:
* Most natural looking "white" out of color changing LED bulbs tested.
* Easy to read by (especially when adding an additional bulb to the lamp with a Y bulb splitter).
CONS:
* Would love it to have a radio frequency (as opposed to infrared) remote. So we can mount it as a light switch and don't have to worry about obstructions.
* Would love for it to have the dimness range & brightness as the Taotronics bulbs reviewed.
* Would love for it to br z-wave compatible.
So for those looking to use this as a bedtime light (and whose spouses refuse to read by yellow light and insist a normal white light) this is the best option!
