Hi this is for all the other people out there who are like me & very sensitive to that new pillow smell. Just a little background first. I have chronic migraines & neck pain. Had neck fusion surgery back in 2017. So I’ve tried literally EVERY kind of pillow out there & unless you get plain polyester, there will be a odor. I had been sleeping on one similar to this one except the filling was latex/poly blend. It was fantastic at first but flattened & after I bought a new one I realized they changed the fill. Not a happy camper! So I thought I’d give memory foam blend a try. Here’s what I did to COMPLETELY get rid of the smell for this pillow. If you look on their website in the faqs, it says the inner pillow can be washed!! However we have a “smart washer” that has sensors & for some reason it never went to spin cycle when I tried just washing the whole thing. So I removed the fill & placed it in small zippered bags made of FINE mesh. You can get them here on amazon. They’re not expensive. They’re designed for washing delicates. Just make sure they’re very fine Mesh & have a piece of fabric that secures the zipper so nothing escapes. I then washed the bags according to their instructions on the site. I think it was delicate cycle cold temp. I used gain pods but no fabric softener. I put the bags in the dryer on low heat (took about 3-4 hours) make sure it’s completely dry! I washed the outer cover according to their instructions with gain pods & now the whole pillow smells great!! Was it a pain & kinda tedious? Yes! But so is trying so many pillows & sending them back! Try it before just returning it! I’m still trying to adjust it to that perfect feel but I love the fabric of the outer cover & was so happy to find this shape pillow in a memory foam blend!! Truly the best shaped pillow for side sleepers! Hope this helps someone else!
