Really good product
I've been giving myself keratin treatments for the last 5 years. I have used several kinds. They all basically work the same way, apply the same way. I've learned 2 things that are important that I want to share. 1) Buying the huge bottle is not more cost effective; the minute you open the bottle the contents break down over time and the first treatment will be the best one. The one you do almost a year later from the same bottle will last the least amount of time. For that reason, I purchase the smallest bottles available and throw out what isn't used. This brand happens to sell very small bottles - 4 oz, which is perfect for me as I have very thick shoulder length hair and can use the whole bottle with one application. The 2nd thing I learned is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE IT ON FOR 3 DAYS, or two days or even one day. I've experimented with all the brands I've used and you can wash it out the next morning, not even 10 hours later. And it will last the same amount of time. I have no idea why they tell you to leave it in 3 days, it is "sealed" into the hair shaft immediately after you flat iron it in with heat and doesn't matter if you wash it out the next morning or 3 days later. I've read reviews here that say it washes out in 3 weeks and that is simply not true. It can last 4 months if you only wash your hair with sulfate/sodium free shampoos. I have very thick wiry coarse wavy hair that is no longer the dark brown I was born with. I dye my hair every 4 weeks as it's now 70% grey and even with the frequent dye jobs, the keratin treatment lasts almost 4 months, less in the summer as I live near the ocean and nothing strip the keratin out of your hair faster than salt water and sulfate shampoos. This brand is great. I have not found any brand that doesn't have fumes or burn the eyes, but I do the blow drying outside on my deck as well as the flat ironing. Its easier on the lungs and eyes that way. And I don't know why they say to apply it to wet hair, it should be dry before it's applied. And its very important to wash with a clarifying shampoo before application. Most of us with unruly hair use products that coat the hair and that comes between the hair and the application. Ok, maybe I had more than 2 things to share about keratin treatments lol, but I remember wishing I knew all this when I first started giving myself treatment.
