Excellent for small ears
I have comically tiny ears. I absolutely CANNOT use the style of earbud that goes inside the ear canal, because they never fit. Ever. I always have to use the kind that sits in the pocket just outside the ear canal. This little earbud fits in that pocket perfectly. I'd been using it that way for a month, and the sound quality was pretty good. I use it at work, to listen to music and Skype meetings.
The other day I rediscovered the silicone attachments that came with this device, designed to fit into the ear canal. I hadn't bothered trying them because none ever fit comfortably. Just for kicks, I decided to try on the smallest. OMG... it FIT! I was so surprised. It was short, very soft, and didn't make my ear feel like I jammed an oversized marshmallow in there. And the biggest surprise? The bass. I mean, it was serious BASS! I've tried all kinds of earbuds (not the expensive kind though) and the best ones still only hint at bass notes. THIS little guy, when fitted properly, filled my entire ear with amazingly rich bass! I was bowled over. Maybe this is what most people with normal ears experience with all their in-the-ear buds, but since I could never get them in my ears, I had no idea. I like techno and dance music, and to experience it bumping in my ear like I was sitting in my car... wow. Amazing.
Important note: While bass-heavy songs do sound awesome in this earbud, other music styles, like rock or classical, might sound a bit muffled. I find it helps to pull it out so it fits more loosely, or just remove the silicone attachment altogether.
Battery life is pretty good. I don't use it constantly all day long, so I can't say how long it would last nonstop. But I do tend to have it on standby all day, and listen to music sporadically. I've never had it run out of juice yet. I always give it a full charge before I start. Charge time is a bit slow, since it's via USB.
Range is excellent. I have it paired with my work laptop, and it works through walls when I walk to the break room to refill my water or visit another coworker in their office down the hall. I suspect that those who experience dropouts might be encountering interference from other bluetooth devices. Just a guess.
If you have minuscule ears like I do, then this earbud is a dream come true! Not that I ever dream about earbuds. But you know what I mean. :)
UPDATE: I've been using this thing for over a year now. I still charge it in the morning before use, and the charge lasts all day with the same amount of use as mentioned above. For the most part, connection strength is good, however someone in the office must have gotten a new bluetooth device, because I occasionally experience drop-outs and choppy reception. I have also experienced a couple of issues that have caused me to drop my rating by one star. I once dropped it to the floor, and it stopped working. The floor is covered in that flat office carpeting, and it was at most a 4-foot drop. It just wouldn't turn on anymore.
I bought another one, because there really aren't any others shaped like this device. This one I have managed to drop several times and it still works. However the charging port seems loose or something. Sometimes when I plug in the charger, I have to fiddle with it to get the red light to come on and start charging. Sometimes it'll stop charging for no reason because it was no longer making contact (no blue light to indicate completed charging), and I'll have to fiddle with it again. For this reason (inconsistent build quality) I'm dropping my rating one star. But I still love it overall.
