Perfect for a VW Golf R.
I've had this sitting in my garage for a few months, waiting for that opportune time to do my first oil change on my 2016 Golf R. It really couldn't have been simpler. Please note, this is the first time I have ever changed oil on any car!
To extract oil:
1.) Pop hood, after getting oil temperature up to about 130F.
2.) Remove oil dipstick.
3.) Connect fat hose to Mityvac 7201, and then the thin hose to that fat hose - and then the other end of that thin hose into the dipstick hole and down to the bottom (wait for it to bottom out).
4.) Make sure the Mityvac is set to "Evacuate" on the little push up/down button.
5.) Pump about 10 times.
6.) Go get a cup of coffee!
7.) Come back in about 15 minutes or so.
Done! This really couldn't have been simpler. You'll know when it's done extracting when it gurgles air, or you can see the level is not rising on the Mityvac container.
After pouring my new oil into the car from the new-oil 1-quart containers, I then proceeded to dispense the old oil into those very same containers to take them to a garage for disposal. This is also easy:
To dispense old oil:
1.) Switch the button on the Mityvac to "Dispense."
2.) Put the end of the hose into one of your used oil containers.
3.) Pump the Mityvac around 10 times.
4.) If you're using smaller oil containers (I used 1 quart containers), you'll need to STOP the flow to switch container, of course. You do this by pulling on the little vacuum release black "thing" on the top of the lid. You'll hear the air release as you keep holding that black thing up, which stops the flow! If the hose is still dripping a little, you can always switch the Mityvac to "Evacuate" and pump a few times to ensure no leakage out the hose as you switch container.)
For the Golf R, the filter is also on top of the engine, right next to the dipstick. You just need a new filter and o-ring (comes with the OEM filter) and a 32mm 6-point socket wrench to remove. Will just take you just a couple of minutes for this part!
Overall, this has been the perfect addition to my garage, and again - bear in mind this is my first ever oil change. Yay!
5 stars out of 5. A great product.
