After much shopping around and research THIS IS THE ONE and it's perfect!
This is for the new 2015 version of the UppaBaby G-Lite... We have been using our Baby Jogger City Mini Gt since our daughter was born. It has served us well and we love it and will continue to use it for certain situations. Our baby is now two and my stroller needs have changed. I don't always want to use our heavy big city mini and found myself longing for a light weight umbrella fold stroller. I narrowed my choices down to the Maclaren Mark II, the Jooby Groove UltraLight, the UppaBaby G-Luxe, and the UppaBaby G-lite. After much debate, I nixed the Luxe because of the high price tag and the heavier weight. I was torn about not having a reclining stroller, but honestly my child rarely sleeps in the stroller anymore anyway, and she sleeps in the car seat all the time, so I don't think sleeping in a non reclining stroller in a pinch will be an issue. I mixed the Joovy after pushing my child in it. I hated the way it pushed and maneuvered ( and this was in a store on hard flat surfaces) and the angle of the handles was uncomfortable for me. The Mark II was incredibly tempting and has been getting amazing reviews. I loved how light weight it was ( the advertised weight is 7.3 lbs however that only includes the stroller frame and the seat, not the wheels and canopy, the estimated true weight with those included is really closer to 10 lbs) the wheels are also full suspension so it has a really smooth ride and Maclaren has a great reputation. What Ultimately sold me on the G-Lite compared to the Mark was the canopy and the storage basket. Both were important to me. The Mark II canopy is large, but it's too tall to actually provide sun protection unless the sun is directly overhead, not height adjustable, and it doesn't pull away from the stroller frame to put in front of your child if the sun is angled directly in front of them. All things the UppaBaby G-lite does and does WELL! My fair skinned kiddo will be well protected with this Spf canopy! Let's talk storage...I don't like to have to carry my diaper bag unless I absolutely have to. With the Mark II stroller frame design , the basket is not only really tiny, but it's not very accessible. The G-Lite basket is actually better than my baby jogger city mini's was in terms of accessibility! It can hold up to 15 lbs of stuff. It holds my large diaper bag with no problem. This is just a must for me. Even when I'm out running errands, I want a place to put stuff. Winter Coats, shopping bags etc. This stroller can do that! I did add a few of my favorite stroller accessories ( previously used with my baby jogger). A Skip hop stroller organizer ( provides a zip of pouch for cell phone and wallet, two drink cup spots, and space for wipes or other necessities), and a side sling bag ( great for hats, gloves, stroller blanket, small toys), and a pair of stroller clips. The G Lite does come with a sturdy cup holder, but I like my skip hop organizer better, so moved the cup down the frame to be right next to my daughter. It works perfect like this! She can get her own cup when's he wants it. The stroller still folds perfectly with all my accessories attached. I think the fold on both the Mark II and G-lite are equal in ease and quality. The Mark II may have an advantage here in that it can be folded with one hand as you use your foot to disengage the locks. The g-lite fold is very easy with just a push in of a small button by the handle bars and then pulling up with two fingers, but you do need two hands to do it. Another favorite feature of the G-lite over the Mark II though is that it stands all by itself after folding! This is so convenient because your stroller will never have to be on the dirty floor or ground again! It folds up compactly as well and even has a caring strap to sling over your shoulder. I think the standing feature is great for buses, trains, subways, and use In restaurants. Note: the Mark folds more compactly and also has a carrying strap. Another reviewer posted that the wheels touch the canopy when folded. They do not do this! Please see my pictures to clarify. They do touch the canopy with the Mark II. Comfortability...the seat is at a slight angle maybe 110 degrees. The back of the seat is mesh (perfect for summer or warm climates). The bottom seat is padded. The Mark II seat is morel like a hammock that your child sits in. I like this seat on the g-lite much better. The Harness buckle is easy for parents with just two pieces sliding into the crotch strap. It's easily adjustable if you have different size kids using it. ( my BAby Jogger straps were so annoying, so I love these!) The Mark II is a puzzle piece harness that does take an extra few seconds to fiddle with. The G-lite has decent maneuverability. The wheels do have shocks in them, but they are plastic wheels. I wish they would use a higher quality wheel on this stroller to really round out the pros. It's good enough though and quite good for malls, and hard surfaces. My honest opinion is that if the weight of the stroller is what is most important to you, followed by best maneuverability for an umbrella stroller, you don't need any extra storage and will always carry your diaper bag then go with the Mark II. If you don't mind an extra two pounds over the Mark, and want better features ( canopy, more comfortable seat, standing fold, better storage) then the G-Lite is for you! I really love mine and can see using it as our everyday stroller from this point on. Perfect for running errands, public transportation, and travel by air, cruise, or train. Also won't take up much room in a trunk and could Be stored in the back seat on the floor. It would be great for apartment living in terms of storing easily and for going up and down steps as you can sling it over your shoulder. I would recommend it for ages 6 months plus, but think it's ideal for ages 1-5.
