Great table!! Be mindful of height and matching before u buy!
This table arrived without damage to any of the pieces despite some clear banging up of the box it was packaged in which was a wonderful surprise. The amount of Styrofoam that ended up floating around my living room (due in part to static) was less than ideal (read: a giant pain in the butt) but was worth it to not have to return this table.
The table itself was easy to put together (just screw in the legs) and the table top looks WAY more expensive than it is. The table lifts to 28 1/2" and is at a pretty comfortable height if you have a couch that is AT LEAST 18" high at the seat. I found that nearly all my dining tables at home were 29" high with an 18" seat so, yes, this table does sit about an inch or so higher than a standard dining table would when you take into consideration that a couch sags down when you sit on it (couches don't STAY at 18" like a wood chair does) - so it may feel a bit awkward. I do not recommend this table for anyone with a couch lower than 18" - the table will be WAY too high and you will feel like you got sucked into a "Honey I shrunk the Kids" movie.
Amazon recommends the Crown Mark Ferrara Chair Side Table as a "frequently purchased together" but my warning to you is that they DO NOT MATCH. The wood is, actually, a pretty perfect match. Even the styling of the legs is quite similar but the marble tops are completely different. I've attached an image so you can compare for yourself. I've decided to keep both, but I was very disappointed by how different the marble top colorings were.
I wanted this table as my boyfriend and I eat in front of the TV fairly regularly and we needed a larger table than the little tray table we had been sharing. As you can see in my attached photo, there is plenty of room for two people to eat at this table comfortably. I also like using it for the occasional email/internet browsing on my laptop although I find the height of the table bothers me a bit for extended use of my mouse, so I tend to bring my arm down and use the mouse on the side of my couch instead. For eating, the table height has always seemed perfect.
That being said, if you plan to eat or work on this table, you will need to add some weight to the inside of the table. I purchased a 25lb weight from walmart and my table has been rock solid without even thinking about tipping. Then I added carpet sliders so I can still slide the table around pretty easily if I need to move it. Do make sure, as others have said, that you open the table top FULLY before you put items on it or you may, quite literally, lose your lunch.
The surface of the table seems pretty resistant to water and such - I wouldn't leave spills to go unnoticed but I also don't feel the need to run and grab a coaster every time I put down a drink either. I have been very careful not to put hot things on the table, however, and I imagine you will want to do the same in order to protect the laminate surface.
Overall, I would recommend this table. If you are looking for a matching side or end table, sadly, I think you may be out of luck. My recommendation would be simply to get an all wood table that matches wood grain and forget trying to match the marble top. Maybe someday I will come across a laminate that matches this table and can use it to re-coat the end table I bought that doesn't match... I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Until then, I will continue to enjoy this lift top table... I always wanted one and have not regretting buying this one. Just remember to consider the cost of adding a weight to it when you purchase if you want to go that route (the weight I got was $23). I hope this review has helped you! Best wishes.
