the perfect trap
Here is the trap in action.... it develops a 1200 volt charge, then when it senses an animal stepping on more than one of the 3 metal plates on the floor... zap... dead as you can see. Pro: - it is very very rare for a rat to beat it... I've been using mine 4 years, caught about 75 rats, and only one small female was able to freak out enough to get away... she basically squirmed like crazy, got lucky and lurched backwards out of the trap. - batteries last forever... I put one set of Cs in it and those went over 18 months before they died - you can just dump the undamaged, not bloody, non disgusting rat body on the floor then take your dogs pooper scooper or the like Con- - if you are sloppy with whatever bait you use, it might arc across 2 of the floor plates and wear out the batteries or possibly kill the trap, so be careful Tips: - leave it off for a couple of days so the rats get used to their new food stop, then turn it on and they will go to town. - a university study from New Zealand recently ranked baits for rats and it was surprising: 1- english muffin (yup, shocking, I tried it and caught 3 rats in a day, one crawled over his dead mates body to get to the english muffin and got zapped) 2- dark tuna meat... buy the cheapest nastiest can of tuna and stick a little of it back there 3- slim jims style jerky.... a lot of rats cant resist this 4- peanut butter... no surprise Most important tip: I found that Rats got very inventive at licking or grabbing the peanut butter or bait from the airholes in back, so I just took an old metal box and blocked it so they had to go into the front to get the bait.... they still love the bait, they just aren't able to steal it anymore. Lastly, get a cheap infrared webcam and set it up so you don't have to go check the trap all the time... set it up to email you video of the rat getting caught, then you can pull out a fresh, non stinky rat and pitch him into the trash or local stand of trees as a food donation for needy racoons etc.
