First of all, I was looking at 4 inch mattress pads and was positive I needed that in order to cure my back problems. All these mattress pads were 100 plus dollars, a bit more than I was wanting to spend. I stumbled upon this pad and looked at all the incredible reviews, and figured for 50 bucks it was certainly worth a shot. I have had back problems (I'm only 26) for many years now, but I have a very physical job and often have to sleep in uncomfortable camping scenarios for long periods of time. My mattress at home is a relatively cheap memory foam gel mattress from Walmart, and it is really really firm. My back was starting to KILL me. Really achey and woke me up in the night. I have slept on this pad now for 4 nights and it has really really helped my back. I am hopeful that with time I will be feeling 100% I wouldn't even want a thicker mattress pad in hindsight, the 2 inches is certainly enough, although I am less than 110lb so a larger person may need more support. I am SO happy with this pad! It seems like a really high quality dense memory foam material, ignore any reviews that say it is like the egg crate pads, it is nothing like that. It does have a really strong chemical smell out of the package, so definitely air it out for awhile. I strongly recommend this pad! UPDATE*** I have now had this mattress pad for a few weeks and I just wanted to come back and say that I swear my back is 100% better. I have honestly been having problems for years and years but never realized it was because my mattress was too firm. This 50 bucks was the best money I have ever spent.
