An interesting alternative perspective
This was interesting and I think done rather well. In the back drop of the 1940s during WWII and the opening season of the first US women's professional baseball league, we see a group of characters struggle to understand themselves in contrast to societies expectations. These expectations come in many form in this show. It deals with the racism one character has to face because no one will even give her a chance to play baseball as well as the expectations of her mother, that revolve around the fear of the world and wanting her child to be safe. It delves into the issues of being LGBT at a time when such things were predominantly considered socially immoral and in fact illegal. The story follows these characters figuring out who they are when they are given a small chance to be something other than what is expected of them. The chance to play baseball becomes the spring board for many of these characters to start trying new things and being more than they thought they were and you will enjoy watching as they do it.
