AR390SS for the win.
I went with the AR390SS based off of the reviews. I have to admit that I was a bit concerned because the last gen AR Blue units did not seem to have what I was looking for, but thankfully those issues were addressed in the SS models. I was deciding between this unit and the Force 2000, as well as the slightly less expensive Sun Joe unit. I didn't look too hard at the Karcher models because of numerous quality reports (leakage). For my usage, which is mainly car washing/detailing with a snow cannon, and light usage on courtyard and patio pavers, I had to eliminate the Force 2000 because it uses proprietary attachments. That left the Sun Joe and the AR390SS for me since both use a standard quick release system. I liked that the Sun Joe had more flow (1.75) vs (1.4) but I read that the Sun Joe didnt quite live up to the GPM flow rates. In the end, I decided on the AR Blue because I felt that it had the 2000psi that I was looking for and I thought that I would like the reel system (*more on that in a min). The AR390SS looks the best to me as well, and while that may be a stupid reason and not a deciding factor, it was an extra because it blends in with my grey garage. Once I received the unit, I was impressed with the packaging. A huge box protected the main box and a number of shock cushions inside the box to protect against shipping. Needless to say, not a single issue on that end. The unit itself seems nicely done. The plastic pieces are attached with a phillips screw, assemble the gun/wand, and you're off and using it within 2-3 minutes. I did notice that the integrated plug receptacle circuit breaker usually needs to be set to 'reset' each time before use. Not sure if that is a safety issue, but I sort of like that as I dont feel the need for an electric shock any time soon. Now the issue that I mentioned earlier, the reel. I think that it could use a more flexible hose so that it doesn't try to stay wound up as you pull the psi cord out. I suppose there is a trade off between its pliability and resistance to kinks. Still, it is not as easy as it could be to unreel and reel the hose back up. If you pull too hard for more hose, it could lead to the unit flipping over. I found its easier to pull it out in the beginning before starting your task, and avoiding that possibility. The pressure is sufficient for my needs. Would I like high pressure? Sure but the limitation with units in this class is the amperage pull of your home electrical system. The manufacturers have to keep it under 15A to avoid tripping your circuit breaker. If anyone says their unit puts out more psi, you may want to question that. Physics wins over claims in the end. That said, I get annoyed with manufacturers that mislead or lie. Thankfully I tested the AR Blue flow rate (see my pic) and it put out nearly 1 full gallon of water in 30 seconds. My calculation is 1.8-1.9 GPM vs their claim of 1.4, which is excellent. I can respect a company that builds a product that exceeds their stated advertised output. Hope this quick review helps someone.
