*** Update - 4/15/14 *** I have to deduct a star from my original rating (and should probably deduct more) because I believe a product is only as good as the company who supports it. My speaker quit charging after a week so I contacted the manufacturer, Harman, for a replacement. They agreed to replace the speaker, so I mailed it to them at my expense. And, after several weeks without hearing from them I followed up. They told me that they can't help me because my particular speaker was only meant to be sold in Japan. For the record, I purchased this from Amazon in the U.S. and I provided them with the invoice and serial number before I sent it to them. So, three weeks later, they still haven't mailed it back to me. Needless to say I'm surprised by their lack of helpfulness. I recommend caution before purchasing this product. *** Original Review *** When my Jambox died, I started looking for a replacement. I compared about 10 bluetooth speakers in the same category and finally decided on the Flip 2. In its price range ($100 - 150) I think this is the best small bluetooth speaker on the market right now. Obviously there are better products that are more expensive. But, this speaker gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Here's what I really like: + huge sound from a small speaker - it gets very loud + full sound profile - good bass, mids, and treble at any volume + well constructed, feels very durable + easy to pair/ one-touch pairing + easy to charge using a universal micro USB cable + minimal controls + looks great + speakerphone sounds great and easy to use + great bluetooth range (approx. 30 feet) + very portable and includes carrying case + battery indicator lights + auxiliary input jack Here's what it lacks: - long battery life (only 4 - 5 hours per charge) - not waterproof - does not charge your mobile device - case doesn't include room for cables The list of what's lacking isn't really an issue for me, but some speakers in the same class include these features. I would like a longer battery life (who wouldn't?). Overall, Flip 2 sounds great and gets loud. It's hard to believe such a big sound comes from such a small package. This speaker is a winner.
