For the Curious Chemist
I just started using this product, and it seems to work well. I'll let the other reviewers speak more to that effect. What I wanted to share was how this actually works and what it actually contains. The advertising and labeling is very vague about the actual chemistry at work (It uses Molecules!). Being the curious guy that I am, I tried researching it but was unable to find the details. When I actually bought it I noticed several patents listed on the back, and searched for them. I found this one to be the most enlightening: http://www.google.com/patents/US7371368 Zero Odor seems to be a pH buffered solution containing about 1% the active ingredient Chloramine-T (and/or related compounds Chloramine-B and N-Chloro-4-carboxybenzeinesulfonamide). Also a touch of short chain alcohol which enhances the effect (and they note t-butanol leaves a pleasant odor, this may be their "tracer" odor. Though the most commonly noted "bleach" smell is probably from the active chlorine moiety of the Chloramine-T.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chloramine_T These seem to more commonly be used as biocides used to disinfect medical or dental supplies. So if you're the curious amateur chemist like me, this might be very helpful. I am always reluctant to buy something if I don't know what's in it.
