I've been using Kreepy Krauly for over 30 years, and got tired of dishing out $300-400 every 4-5 years or so. So I decided to give this low cost option a chance. Set up was fairly straight forward as expected, considering my extensive experience with the Kreepy. The second day of operation the cleaner stopped working. I pulled it out and jiggled the flapper, and it has worked flawlessly for three months.....until this past week when it stopped again. Jiggling the flapper no longer fixes the problem, and it appears I am going to have to open it up and check out the flapper assembly. The instructions outline a procedure for this task, which I have not done yet. I will amend review if I am unable to fix the problem. Checking the instructions is when I noticed that there is no way to contact this manufacturer or find out any other information for this product, as I could not find a web site for it. No web site, no address and no phone number. That also means there is no warranty, implied or otherwise except for the possibility of 90 days from the seller. This product deserves four stars because of the low cost, but I gave it three stars because of the lack of service or support contacts or information. Amended review: My repair was not successful. The cleaner only works intermittently. Checked filters as well as for debris and suction, and found nothing out of the ordinary. I will continue to troubleshoot. Any suggestions are always appreciated. Second amended review: I ended up contacting the seller via email, and letting him know everything I had gone through. He suggested there had to be something restricting the flapper. I opened it up again, pulled the flapper, and found a grain of sand wedged in the corner of the chamber. Bottom line.....a grain of sand caused the cleaner to stop working. It's working fine again. I upped my rating back to four stars. The only reason it's not five stars......because a grain of sand can shut it down. At 70% cheaper than a Kreepy......it's a good buy. Note: I just purchased my second pool cleaner. After three years and five months, the old cleaner was ready to go. The flapper valve assembly, which had been repaired and modified a few times, stopped working. However, the seal was pretty much shredded, so I'm not sure how much it would clean even if it was moving. BOTTOM LINE: There was certainly a learning curve for the repairs and maintenance of this product, and I'm thankful for all the reviewers who helped educate me. But the kicker, is that this pool cleaner ended up costing me less than $2.50 per month. I'm finding it hard to find much to complain about.
