I don't see the back light problem.
I bought this watch mostly for long range rifle shooting. It has every environmental input I need except wind speed/direction. The temperature is off (usually 8-10 deg high), but my anemometer that I use to get the wind speed gives accurate temperature. So that was not a problem to me. Below I rated each feature 1-10:
CLOCK - 10: it works.
2ND CLOCK - 10: cool feature, especially if you travel to different time zones from home.
TIMER - 10: convenient compared to using a chronograph backwards.
CHRONO - 10: works as advertised.
ALARM - 10: works as advertised.
WEATHER - 8: cool feature and as accurate as a watch can be, I'd still check the weather channel though.
THERMO - 2: don't buy for this feature. I guess it gives you a ball park idea of the temperature.
ALTIMETER - 9: big buying point for me and is pretty accurate. It changes +/- 2-5 feet from day to day standing in the same spot in my house. But 2-5 feet isn't a big deal.
ALT TRACKER- 9: cool/useful feature (I set it for the altitude I zero'd my rifle at). Same small problem as the Altimeter.
BAROMETER - 10: I haven't checked the accuracy of it, but it seems to be close. For my application, I don't care about if it's off as long as it's consistently off (bc I only care about changes in barometric pressure, not the actual value).
COMPASS - 10: VERY accurate. It has 2 methods of calibrating that can be done in unison with each other for further accuracy.
BACK LIGHT - 9: It is dimmer than the average watch, but I never have a problem seeing it any time of day.
HISTORY - 10: Shows history of barometer & altimeter for over 24hrs with a graph of the data.
MANUAL - 10: Broken down Barney style for every function and setting. Very detailed and easy to use.
DURABILITY - 9: I have not had it long enough to damage it, but my initial assessment is that if you don't beat it, it won't break for no good reason.
OPTIONS - 10: It has settings to change to every unit readable. Temp - C/F; Time - 12h/24h; Date - DDMM/MMDD; Barometer - inhg/mb/hpa; Altimeter - feet/meters; Display - many, many possibilities.
I couldn't be happier with this watch and would expect to pay $150+ for an equal watch. I highly recommend it. Plus I like how it looks, but you should make that opinion on your own.
