After careful research I ordered this generator via ($870) prime. My research included reviews and calling the champion tech support phone number. I was pleased to be connected quickly with a knowledge specialist who confirmed he was in Southern California. I verified Amazon is an authorized seller and he explained how any warranty claims would be handled. I'm using the 3100 watt inverter generator to power my 2016 Rockwood high wall A frame camper. The little camper has a dometic cool cat 10,200 btu A/C and microwave oven in it. The generator arrived promptly in 2 days, well boxed in good condition. It weighed a lot. Removing it from the box and initial setup was easy with the most difficult task being connecting the internal battery cables. Still it only took 20 minutes to get it running. You'll need a quart of 10w-30 oil for break in. Using the wireless remote it started almost instantly and settled into a smooth idle. I followed the break-in instructions carefully, using the campers dometic a/c as a load. The generator easily powered all loads in this little camper. When powering the a/c, the engine would run slightly above idle rpm. Not too loud and very stable. Unlike other rv's, I was able to simultaneously power the microwave, and as expected the rpm would jump way up. I verified i could remote start the generator with the campers a/c turned on and it would start and carry the loads. The end result being that I can start the generator while on the road and precool the rv prior to a rest stop. It worked perfectly. After 5 hours I changed the oil with Mobil one and used the generator the next day for hurricane Mattew and it worked perfectly. As for sound level. Its not a Honda Eu3000. Not even close. I measured the sound level at 23 feet (7 meters) at 60 Db at idle with the exhaust pointed away from me. As advertised. It gets plenty louder (worst case 74dba 15 feet @ max power) at the exhaust port side as electrical loads increase do to a muffler that's too small but for the price, this generator is a dandy. I figure it's $1500 less than the Honda when you add in wireless remote and free shipping. More than enough to buy a second unit with $600 leftover. If you need all 2800 watts regularly you might not be happy with this unit as its makes plenty of noise at full power but... I found when placing the generator near the end of the 25 foot power cord with the exhaust pointed away from the camper, that the generator was inaudible inside the camper with the quiet dometic a/c turned on. Perfect for me. Summary. Nice quality, first rate customer support, acceptable sound level, great price. Wheels around easily on smooth surfaces, compact size. No regrets. I have no affiliation with champion, Amazon. Just an end user.
