Update September 25, 2018: In 2015 I purchased the product and after 3+ years I received their newer model. I am very impressed with that. I have made a quick test and raised the review to 5 stars. However, I see a lot of people found my review useful so want to give my honest review after using it a few more months. 1. Mechanical unit improved I have used the same battery in both old and new system. New model trashcan opens the lid fast and closed automatically. Old model could not open the lid. See the picture. 2. I purchased first one in 2013 then when it broke, I considered it as bad luck. My Second stopped worked a week back. It makes humming noise but lid does not open. I changed batteries but still no luck. I assumed the Lid opening mechanism is broken. However since it was purchased only few month back, I called the iTouchless customer service. They wanted to leave my no and never contacted. Eventually I decided to disassemble the header part. There are 6 screws at the back and then you will see 4 screeds attached to the motor. I took it and found the connecting hinge that push and pull the lid is made with toy grade plasic. Very thin and fragile. Its broken and you cannot repair it with glue. Then for curiosity i also opened the iTouchless can bought earlier. It had exactly same issue. I am frustrated and felt ripped off. It was better to purchase a Trash can in 1/4 price that can be opened with toe press. I love Amazon products. I also trusted high reviews. Then I see most of the reviews were done right after the product was purchased. I was so excited first few months. I also unfortunately told my friends about this product. I also learnt that if I had to send it to repair I have to pay extra money!
