It picked up a dinner plate, guys...a DINNER PLATE!
I bought "Sunshine" after a long history and happy times with Kenmore canisters. After a Kenmore part broke and was expensive to repair, I shopped around. Then I read:
THIS REVIEW ["it's like flying first-class in a jet"]: The reviewer made this claim that sold me:
"I mean, my God. A vacuum removed a stain" !!!!!!!
I was sold on that and the promise of outstanding, quality engineering, quiet operation and suction, suction, suction! Here's why:
I have a yellow Labrador retriever who is covered in hair. Of course. That is, except the huge volume he spews all around the place, willy nilly. Naturally...HE doesn't do the cleaning. It's to the point that, when shopping for a new couch, I simply dragged the sample swatches across his back to see what would stick and what would camouflage the hair best (a great tip, BTW). They should name the fabric color "Yellow Lab". Anyway...so much hair, I could have knitted a couch myself.
Got this vacuum, which was a really good value, after comparison. Unpacked easily and set up in minutes. Lots of attachments that do need to find a place in the house, but that's a very minor issue because this thing CLEANS LIKE A FIEND! It has multiple suction adjustors because it will lift up everything. Everything. As a lark, I tried to vacuum some crumbs left on a plate I'd left for the dog (right...how could a Lab leave any crumbs? They eat everything!). Anyway...it not only picked up the crumbs, but the entire PLATE!
The BRUSH attachment makes dusting unnecessary. Gets every SPECK of dust from TV screens, lampshades and curtains.
The HARD FLOOR attachment works great on wood and vinyl floors and low carpet I have Persian rugs...lifts them up, but if you pull from the middle to the outsides, it gets long-embedded dirt and, naturally, all of the hair.
I initially thought the CARPET attachment which operates primarily by suction (not by beating the daylights out of the carpet) would be less than effective. TRUST THE MIELE, folks! You'll be able to sit on the carpet in black pants (or any color you choose) with confidence. And without hair butt. I've read that the CORD is too short, but I thought it was more than ample and retracts easily. The HANDLE EXTENDS to a generous length. The POWER HEADS are a dream, with the perfect width and height to get around and under furniture, turning like the BMW of vacuums.
Also, I do confess to vacuuming the dog, to get to the Source of the hair. He loved it but wouldn't sit still enough to make it functional. Turned into a wiggle worm...lab owners, you know how that goes, amirite?
SO...Good bye Kenmore, good bye Dyson (my nemesis...heavy, catches on everything). HELLO MIELE!!! Consider this one, people.
