I bought the grill knowing that the weak point was the latch mechanism that kept the lid closed. I found Ace hardware part no 5300223 Draw Tight Catch to benjust what I was looking for. I drilled out the rivets holding the old latch in place, enlarged the holes a bit, the pop riveted the upper mechanism in place. After that, I positioned the lower mechanism, drilled two holes, two more pop rivets and - problem solved! The new latch is probably what the factory should have done. A super easy fix if you're even marginally handy.
