Spigen AP12T VS iOttie Easy One touch 3 (V2.0)
I tend to buy just about every phone mount you can think of. For real estate I depend on my phones gps to get me where I need to go, so a good mount is critical for me. It needs to hold my 6s plus sturdy, easy to remove and install, and adjust into the exact position I want. I like having my gps at the top left corner of my windshield. I prefer this area because I don't have to move my eyes very far to see my next turn, and if voice guidance is on it's easy to hear. Having good adjustability is critical, because a phone as large as mine could block some of my vision. In this spot I find it blocks the least for me. I have gone through more than a dozen mounts and I have the Amazon order history to prove it :) Most have a short coming, or they just break because I use them so much. I've been using the iOttie for three months now and would give it an 8/10. It does what I need it to, but the internal tolerances feel a little loose to me. The iOttie also has a third grab point on the phone where I put my charging cable through. Sometimes it's a pain feeding the cable in it which is another small gripe. Not a huge deal and most people probably wont care. However I remove and install my phone from a mount more than 10 times a day sometimes. You notice these things when you use them so much. As soon as I held the Spigen the one thing I noticed is this feels very sturdy, and the tolerances are much tighter than the iOttie. Nothing is rattling or moving at all with everything clamped down. The mounts are almost identical for adjustability. The places that open and clamp down are in the same spots and they work well. The only difference is the Spigen does not have a third grab point for the phone. However with my phone locked in place it's not moving at all. I actually like this better than the iOttie for the reason I discussed earlier. It's one less thing to get in the way and to tighten down if it comes loose. The iOttie is more compact than the Spigen which I like more for my application. It allows me to keep my phone closer to the windshield. If you mount to a dash board, or at the bottom of your windshield, you wont care about this at all. I just don't need my phone as close to my face because the top of the windshield is angled towards you. This also means the Spigen has a farther reach than iOttie so some people will appreciate that more. At it's full reach my iphone 6s plus is still rock solid. Going over bumps does not affect it at all. I live in NC and we have good roads overall compared to my previous home in Michigan. I think both mounts will still do well regardless of where you live and condition of your roads. The suction cup on the iOttie is very very sticky. Almost feels like glue which is common for these types of mounts. I've seen people ruin dashboards with them, which is why I would never use it on there. The Spigen feels more like a normal suction cup, and I think the chance of damage is a lot less. However I wont test that out in my car. It grabs onto glass really well and is not coming down at all. I like that it's easier to remove as well. Another plus for the Spigen. I'm going to do more testing and comparing, but for now I'm going to use the Spigen and hopefully get it into position that I like. I'm very finicky about my mounts and either one will work well for you. Spigen is a 9/10 for me. If it was as compact at the iOttie then it would be a 10/10 for me easily. If you have any questions please leave a comment and I will answer it for you. **edit** Quick update. I have been using this for about 2 1/2 months and it's still working great. I have officially retired the iottie as a backup and to use in rental cars. This Spigen mount is awesome. My phone is installed and removed several times a day so it's getting a good bit of use. **edit** It's now over 7 months later and still no issues. If it breaks I will order another to replace it in a heart beat. **Last edit at the one year mark** It's been a year and still works as new. I went from an iphone 6s plus to the iphone x which is quite a bit smaller and still works great. My phone is still clipped in and out several times a day most days. Suction cup has not come loose at all, even in the NC summer heat.
