I just received my feeder this week and within an hour the birds were using it. It accommodates all types of birds, even the larger Cardinals. I had a squirrel problem which prompted me to try this feeder. I have only rated this product with a 4 because I have not seen the squirrels to directly interact with it yet. Perhaps that is a testimony in itself, it seems to be well thought out construction-wise. Time will tell. Update: I have seen the squirrel (I have one persistent one!), try to defeat the feeder and so far so good. The only thing I can see would be if she could gnaw the mesh screening or pull it away to get to the plastic tube beneath but this would take alot of work since the external tube is metal. She has tried, I see the little teeth marks. I am cautiously optimistic. Last update: it seems to be a success! The squirrels tried to defeat the feeder for about a week and now they no longer come by! So I can heartily recommend this feeder. The last thing I would need to know is how easy will it be to replace the spring inside after it fatigues over time. Bravo Brome! Keep up the good work. I know they make larger sizes of this model as well.
