What an upgrade from my G930s
Pros:
Memory Foam Comfort is no joke... it's incredible! This isn't just not-uncomfortable like most headsets, it actually feels rather pleasant.
Sound Quality is great, no cracking or interference like wireless headsets have (this is wired don't be mistaken)
Set-up... What setup? Plug and play, no bulky software needed (I'm looking at you Logitech/Razer...)
Remote is great. Buttons for volume *and microphone* volume up and down, as well as mic mute.
High quality packaging
Cons:
"7.1" audio seems like a gimmick entirely. It seems to just make things sound "boomy". However, I don't think this is a big deal, because the audio is just fine on this as it is
Microphone position isn't as flexible as some others... again, I don't think this is a big deal at all
The mic mute isn't quite as handy as if it was mounted on the headset itself
Full review:
After my Logitech G930 died, I decided I needed a new headset. I was tired of all the crackling, interference, and disconnects that plague the G930s. I also hate the stupid software on them, as well as the Razer version for my BlackWidow keyboard. They never seems to work perfectly, and end up getting in the way or failing at the worst times. After searching for a long time, I finally decided to give this headset a try. I'm not a particularly huge fan of HyperX... I seem to have developed a negative connotation in my mind for them making off-brand low-quality parts.
Boy was I wrong.
I took this out of its box, and was surprised a bit by the weight. Most headsets are INCREDIBLY lightweight, but this has a quality construction feel, while still being light. The components feel like they are made from higher quality materials than the obviously plastics used on my G930s.
They come with an extra set of felt earpads, which I haven't used, because the memory foam pleather ones are AMAZING. They feel great... no reason to change. However if they wear out, I'll have another set.
The mic is removable, which I don't care about. In addition, it comes with a 3.5mm splitter and a carrying bag. I didn't need these at all, but hey, free accessories right?
Overall:
These headphones are the first that I bought that EXCEEDED my high expectations. I tried the AKG Q701s, and the bumpy headband sucked. These are amazing, as I've worn them for 8 hours straight with literally 0 "head strain". Sure they'll mess up your hair a bit, but they feel great. I thought the memory foam would be a gimmick, but I was dead wrong.
These headphones are one of those products that is so good that you forget about it entirely, and that's such a gift. You only think about your mouse, keyboard, etc. if they are having problems, but this is an exception. I put them on and forget about them because they are comfortable and have never had the SLIGHTEST glitch whatsoever.
HyperX is no longer a "little brother" company in my mind. These headphones are a real contender in their price bracket! I highly recommend them!
