Quarantine the plant in a vase before transferring into the aquarium.
I bought this hornwort for my aquarium since I have a lot of natural light coming from a nearby window. However, I would HIGHLY recommend NOT placing this plant directly in the aquarium at first. Once you receive the live plant, place it in a vase of water or large bowl. There were some baby snails that came out and few dead leaves that takes time to shred out. I left the plant in the big vase for 1 month and did weekly water changes. I could see the plant getting healthier and much greener. Then drained the water and dead matter off the big vase and hand picked just the green lush plant and transferred into the aquarium. I'm am very glad that I did the quarantine step in between, as it avoided a lot of hassle for clean-up and snail attack in the aquarium itself.
