A true little beast
I got this for my new Skylake build. If I was to go next gen, might as well get a next generation drive. I installed it on an Asus Maximus Viii Hero. The motherboard came with the standoff and the screw necessary for the install. Installing it was a breeze. Just make sure you take your time to align the card in the M.2 slot, on the proper side. If you're installing this on an already completed system using the same motherboard than me, if you have a GLI SPU Setup with big cards, you will need to remove the second one to get access to the M.2. It's a shame that the second GPU covers the Samsung SSD if you have a window side panel, but I can deal with that. The BIOS recognized the drive immediately, even without updating it, and I was able to Install Windows 10 and use it as my Boot/OS drive. (My BIOS was from September 2015, I still updated it later but the drive worked right away without any bios updates). The BIOS had to bet set to Boot Manager, not the drive itself to boot windows. I wanted a fresh install as I was changing PC. I don't know if you could clone a regular SSD to the M.2, probably you can do that as well if you don't want to reinstall. Boy that is a nice little beast. On sequential reads, it's about 5 times faster than my Samsung SSD, and 3 times on writes. Note that you will need 4 PCI-E lanes for your M.2 slot, so make sure you check your motherboard chipset/cpu specs if you want to take full advantage of it. My motherboard has 16 PCI-e Lanes that I use for 2 graphic cards in SLI, and and the M.2 uses the other 4. It's a bit technical for me at this point but I'm guessing the rest of the peripherals are using the chipset lanes (DMI 3?). Anyway I'm getting 4x full speed. So no issues here, as shown in the benchmark screenshot.
