Clarification of misleading posts and a HUGE thrumbs up on this product!!
I had to put my 2 cents in on the quality assurance and misleading comments that have been posted about this product. My husband got me this spice grinder as a gift. Several people made the comment that spices blow out all over and due to these comments he was hesitant to buy this particular one that I had picked out. Plain and simple, those people could not have read their owners manuals. The tall grind canister is for coffee.... period.... end of discussion. The short canister is for spices and the manual specifically tells you to put the solid canister lid on and then start to grind to prevent exactly what they are claiming it does. I tested this right away to make sure there wasn't some sort of validity to their claim and it works perfect!!! Not a granule of pepper escaped and not a single sneeze, and as we all know, that the ultimate acid test for pepper, lol. If you are considering this product I would HIGHLY recommend it!!! Its heavy duty in construction, tons of power as it took down about a 1/2 cup of peppercorn to fin ground in less than 30 seconds and I was thrilled to get 2 canisters for spices so you don't have to start washing like a neurotic hamster the second you grind one type of spice if you are doing several types. This is by FAR the best built grind I have seen. It definitely does the KitchenAid name proud.
