I have tried a lot of things to scare of birds and keep them from leaving their droppings on my swimming pool deck. We have bought several versions of owls from solar powered ones and battery powered ones which make a sound when a bird is close to solar powered motion detectors. Also tried the large balloons which have eyes to scare the birds. The balloons helped a little in the daytime but not at night. These silver reflective ribbons actually help more than anything else. They are not perfect but they do help. Part of their effectiveness is the sun and light reflecting off the silver while they are blowing in the wind. They also make noise as they blow which seems to help. For the money they are a good value.
