I’ll summarize. Product: 5 Stars. Installation Design: 2 Stars. Overall I am very pleased. I love this thing. I can’t see any issues so far with the device itself. Set up was easy and straightforward. Hopeful for updates and added widgets. I can’t add quick controls for my smart blinds even though I have a group called “smart blinds”. So not all devices can be added to the quick controls yet. Now the issue. Installation. It’s as if the person who designed this thing said… eh they’ll figure it out somehow, and said “good luck.” This thing was such a pain to install so it looks clean and minimal. It took me hours of fidgeting with my setup to get everything just right. I have a deep recessed outlet box already installed. It’s the deepest one I could find and still this power adapter won’t fit inside of it! Why would you make such a bulky power adapter for a wall mounted device. Obviously people will want to hide the wire if possible. I had to take my recessed outlet apart, use a saw to sink the outlet mount a little further into the box itself. Only then did the plug fit flush with the wall. I didn’t use the recessed outlet face plate because that would have pushed the bracket off of the wall and I would have to float it in three places with washers just to be level. I wanted it to be perfect. I’m a perfectionist. You get the picture. So after all of that adjusting, it now sits on the wall like a painting with no space or gaps. Would an electrician pass the modifications I made the the outlet box…? Probably not but it’s secure, grounded, and no one is ever going to see it. Amazon just needs to develop hardware for their devises better. I don’t know why so many accessories for these devises are made by third party companies for them. There is an obvious disconnect between the form and function of these devices. Bottom line, don’t make a slim digital picture frame devise that can’t be installed with ease. Make a slim plug. Make a better mounting bracket with space. Concave the entire back body of the frame so that it can fit over any outlet for seamless installation. Instead there is an odd 3/4 circle cut out on the back center panel that doesn’t make any sense for wall mounting. Sure, some people will just stick this on a stand and call it a day. But if you advertise it on a wall with no wires showing, that’s what most people will want to achieve.
