My poor husband had been absolutely traumatized by maggots in our outside can when we got back from vacation. Over the next few weeks, I bleached and scrubbed the inside and outside like crazy. I basically zip-tied every bag of waste that went in. Still, it was a fly hotel and maggots were coming out of it and crawling on the outside like something in a horror movie. I bought this due to the other reviews and it has been a silver bullet. The only flies in my can are dead flies, and there are no more maggots. The fly population around our home has also decreased dramatically. The garbage guard has definitely become a welcome part of our household maintenance routine!
