Low profile under desk option to extra steps ... a little more necessary these days.
I've included a collage photo of how this machine looks under a standing desk, along with a standing on it photo, and then a 'put-away' photo. When I realized I would be working from home always I needed to find some additional ways to keep steps in my day since I'm no longer going from building to building or meeting to meeting. An underdesk treadmill is a great option. Its been quite an adjustment.
1) safety first!! Just because it seems like you can work and walk all at the same time doesn't mean you can. When I am doing email or paperwork while trying to also move I keep it at around 1mph. Slow but moving and also not a total distraction. If I'm on a listening call where I am just dialed in though I can bump it up to a regular pace and get a lot more steps.
2) the walking area itself is a couple inches narrower than a regular treadmill, not a problem just maybe adjusts my gait a bit to ensure I stay the course
3) it's flat 100%, there is no incline nor ability to create one. Not a detractor at all but it you are used to a treadmill that allows for it, its a difference.
These are all things I just consider adjustments in how I would use a normal treadmill. That said, I love the ability to be able to add some steps and movement to my day. Weather and work don't always permit an outside walk so its an awesome alternative. The set up was super easy!! The hardest part was getting it out of the box. From there its really just finding its home and attaching the magnetized button. The magnetized button is key ... you can plug it and turn it on but if you don't attach it you're just standing there. It has a clip on it so I have that attached to my desk and then magneted to my monitor arm. So when I put the treadmill down I can just move the magnet from the arm to the machine and get to stepping. If there's ever a need for an emergency stop you can just pull the magnet off and it will shut down. Otherwise everything is managed from a handheld remote, including start/stop, pause, and speed variation. You do have to stand on the walkway for it start, it must have some weight to get going.
It's starts out at like .1 and you just build your speed from there. Everything is really easy to use and understand. There are wheels at the front of the machine for maneuvering around. It sits against the wall easily, or you can store it under a sofa so its out of sight. For me, I leave it next to my computer as a reminder to set it for a couple walks a day.
The product came within a week, even a couple days before the expected arrival date. That was a driving reason around my decision to choose this one over another less expensive model, or the more expensive folding model. I wanted something as quickly as possible. I don't enjoy sitting all day so it's been great to have this as an option.
