Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I do not get to make awesome reviews often anymore and rarely do Amazon reviews anymore. I used to do professional tech reviews, so it usually feels like work - and no-one ever hits the "helpful review " buttons....so not sure folks care for my reviews here. But this product and company need a review from me. First, I know they are pricey, but there is a reason we have purchased 1/2 dozen or more Vornado products including multiple versions of this fan. In our house they run (just like our Vornado HEPA) 24/7. Our house is very dusty because of our climate, pets, and it's construction. A typical fan might get us a year at best. Box fans will get us a season before the bearings give out. All of our Vornado products have lasted us 25,000 hours or more with one exception. That is commendable in a world that makes products designed to be quickly broken, trashed and replaced. Second, that one exception failed at ~20,000 hours (and was a red Vornado medium sized fan) and was replaced under warranty fully free even though it had not been registered and I had no reciept (Vornado was able to confirm from the serial number a build date that was within warranty). They sent us a brand new one with the only catch being it was of a random color. We didn't even have to send the old one back, just had to send photos of the serial number and the cut cord (You should register yours though...we got lucky). It was done through email. Third, the reason we contacted them through email in the first place was to see if we could get a replacement part for the fan that failed (it was probably the bearings, but I was looking for the whole motor). Now, consider, I do not have a lot of time...and who fixes a broken fan? A person who believes it will actually be worth it. Here I had a broken fan and I was so happy with it and sad it was broken I was willing to pay half or more of it's original cost for the opportunity to fix it and get more life out of it. Instead, they offered to replace it for free under warranty. And Finally, the only real detractor is that I could not get the replacement part for that one failed fan. Most folks could care less, but that was my only disappointment with Vornado - I love their product so much but they would not help me fix it - only replace it. I think they are about as close as you can get in our modern day to a company that makes and stands behind a quality product. I have given 5 stars for less. Our expectations have gotten so low right? So I can't give them less than 5 stars for more.* Hope that helps. * Incidentally, we actually have one other fan that has run 24/7 for 14.5 years now. I do not know the actual maker (probably Yate-Loon), but it is a 120mm DC fan we use as a makeshift exhaust fan for a closet. The brand is Silverstone. It was <20 USD. Can't cool a room, but I do wish I had bought a dozen at the time.
