Works Like a Charm ... But Instructions Are / Were Not Complete ... Someone Will Be Stranded
I thought I received a defective unit since my car wouldn't start; even when I followed the provided instructions. I tracked down the solution with my trusty multimeter; it pointed to a "problem" with the jumper cables. Closer inspection made me wonder what that small button on the jumper cables right next to the red/green flashing light was for. It is not mentioned in the instructions I received, and when I went to the manufacturer's web site the instructions for this unit were not available. As it turns out, you need to hold down that small button for about three seconds to turn the flashing light to solid green. You then have thirty seconds to start your car. Mine worked like a charm. This unit rocks! However, it took me two days to solve this mystery.
I'm guessing DBPower made a mid-production run change to this unit that didn't make it's way into the provided instructions. I'm going to all but guarantee someone will be stranded by this hidden ... errr ... feature.
