Better than expected
I bought this, willing to take the chance because of the low price, but not expecting much. I wanted a machine I could use at home, something like the elliptical I use at the gym. But home ellipticals are too big for my place. After reading the reviews here, I decided to try the Air Walker. Turns out, it is better than I expected.
It was super easy to put together. I didn't need help, and it took all of 5 or 10 minutes. Like one of the other reviewers, I didn't like the stomach pad. It's just a nuisance and doesn't seem to do anything. Once that was off, I felt free to move in a nice stride. Though the center does wobble a little, I can tell it's simply from the movement, and it's minor. The machine is absolutely silent, and the movement free and smooth.
This is a no-impact workout. My only complaint is that it's a bit too easy. I find though that I can go as fast or slow as I want, and by either leaning forward or backward, I can change which muscles I'm using most. I'm also finding I can adjust the main work load from arms to legs, or use them evenly.
What would be a nice improvement would be some kind of resistance adjustment. But as is I do get a good workout, and spend 45 minutes to an hour on it daily. This allows me to cancel my gym membership, as I also have dumbbells I use at home.
The machine sits nicely in the corner of my bedroom, as it has a low foot print and about a 14-17 inch stride, which is perfect for me. I'm happy I bought it. It seems well made. So I'll see how long it lasts with daily use.
UPDATE- June 22
After only a month of every day use, I have found I just don't get the workout I need on this walker. I ordered the Schwinn 450, which is giving me a great workout, and I'm keeping the airwalker for back-up, or to use while watching TV. The airwalker still works fine, but I just don't get a workout on it. It was be nice if it had some kind of resistance that could be applied. Also, the straight odd motion seems to give me a bit of a lower back ache. I didn't realize that was what my ache was from until I switched the the elliptical which allows for natural leg movement.
