A Very Serviceable Snow Blower
I have been waiting to write a review until I used the EGO Power snow blower under some tougher conditions. Any blower can handle 3" of light dry powdered snow. If you don't know what type of snow I'm talking about, you don't need to buy a snow blower. Last night/this AM we had 10" of wet heavy snow. The top inch was almost a slush/sleet. The machine comes with 2 56-Volt lithium batteries and a charger. Pros: - The blower is very quiet, there is no concern about waking the neighbors at whatever hour you want to clean your driveway - The blower is very light, and easy to maneuver - The blower has headlights, useful when blowing in the dark - Even though you have to keep the drive engaged to keep the motor running, it is very easy to move the levers controlling speed and direction of the snow itself - Because the weatherman predicted up to 15" of snow, I cleared the driveway last night when there was 6". The blower went through the wet snow without a problem. - This new generation of EGO charger fully charges a dead battery in 30 minutes. Cons - EGO says the machine will throw snow 35'. No way, blows snow about 8 feet on full power. - Like all EGO products, you have to use on full power to meaningfully throw snow. - I cleared my neighbor's sidewalk which had the full 10" of the wet snow. This was the max for the machine. I tried to do a full width with that snow, and really struggled. Had to walk very slow. When I only cleared half the width with the machine, the blower did much better. - Taxing the machine with the heavy snow used up the batteries much quicker. I have a small driveway, sidewalks and pathway. With the 2nd cleaning of the residual 4" of wet slushy snow, the batteries lasted 45 minutes. - I have two extra 56-volt batteries from my leaf blower, and I needed them to finish the job. Summary: This is not a large gas powered machine that goes through 18" of snow. It is definitely not for commercial use. But if your goal is to have a quiet, light, easily maneuvered snow blower, that doesn't require fossil fuels, the EGO power will get the job done. You definitely will need 4 batteries though. Also consider buying a second rapid charger to be as efficient as possible.
