I have seen where this has peeled off in a thin layer, possibly poor prep? I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing several smaller cans. This will start hardening before you use 1/4 can unless your painting a pretty large open area. Once the can is open and re-sealed, its usually on for the duration. Also very easy to contaminate if moisture gets inside. Sure you can use plastic wrap to possibly prevent it from sealing but why take the chance. Two coats are usually needed or rust will show its ugly head again. I can't state how important surface preparation is with any paint including POR-15. Respirator is a MUST if you spray this. You do NOT want to get this in your lungs. If you get it on your skin, it can be removed with the usual paint cleaners if you do it right away. If you wait too long, it will usually take 7-10 days to come off. Last year, I destroyed a can trying to open it. I dumped the remaining into a small plastic jug for later use. Upon opening the container later, it was hardened. Don't make the same mistake. The smaller cans are a little more but if you end up throwing out half a can, your ahead of the game.
