I have English Bulldogs and for anyone who knows this breed it means drool the likes of which could be used for industrial lubricant. And that is BEFORE the drool attracts dirt. Because of my dogs I have my carpets commercially cleaned every six months and was never completely happy with the cleaners they used or how wet they left the carpets. Note that I have never used a rental machine so I cannot speak to them. This machine is great! My carpet is cleaner (and was left less wet) than any service I have hired in the past. I used the cleaners and pet re-treat products made by Bissell and this machine. I hope this machine lasts because it is the best clean I have ever experienced. The machine was easy to assemble, with clear instructions. I will say that you must pay attention to the "Full" line on the bottom/dirty water container and empty it promptly even though the "Full" line is far below the container actually being visually or physically full. I say this because I noticed that the suction of the machine drops noticeably if you let the container over fill, once you empty the container the suction is back full force. The only negative I can say about the machine is that it was heavier that I expected but if you follow the instructions for cleaning you will love the results.
