Changed my life
If you're considering upgrading from the put-AAA-batteries-in style headlamp to a rechargeable battery style, well good for you and welcome to the real world of seeing at night. I went from 40 lumens to 50 lumens to 80 lumens to the glorious beast of 575. You can see. at night. really well. really far. The adaptive lighting works well and is uber-useful. the programmable aspect is great too. It took me a few rounds to get the settings the way i wanted them. Advice along those lines: you can set-up 5 different levels of lighting (using different power for the wide beam and the long beam). I broke it down to 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 initially and this wasn't useful. there isn't much difference between 60 and 100 (it's all just really really bright). Instead, I now have my 1st setting on like 1% (use it for finding things in the trunk of the car or inside a tent), then like 5% which is enough to get you around (walking in a campground or on in your driveway), then 10% which is enough to run with on a relatively smooth road. then 50% which will light up the whole street. then 100% just to be obnoxious. By weight, this is heaver than some other lights. It's lighter than the danged AAA batteries though. Doesn't matter because it's well-weighted and doesn't;t feel like much on your head. My other lights (battery and light in the front), I always had to wear with a hat - like a shelf. This one I wear with a light bandana which saves me some weight and also also the light to come down to my feet and is not blocked (eclipsed) by the bill of the hat. Seriously, the first tie i ran with this in a group setting t night, the people I cane up behind thought I was a car. If you've read this far, mark the review as "helpful." Thanks
