Best knife for the money.
Update. 10/20/2020: I have now had 2 of these for years. Sharp, solid and decided to bring the leather into it. I design and make sheaths and made one for this knife. Just a great knife even at $30.00. on the right, I even hit handle with some dye.
I have been collecting knives over 40 years. I got my first real knife at 7. My 25 yr old daughter uses it now. I have had all the major brand names and some custom knives from makers. I am a knife guy. I saw some bad reviews of this and most were piffle and hot air. I bought 2 of these due to low price on Amazon Smile. I took one out of the box and looked over it. Well made commercially produced knife. I took it outside, and did feather sticks. I scraped back, chopped on hard oak, drilled, shaved of the feathers, and ran a ferro rod against it and sparked up a fire in no time. I was truly expecting this to show wear and it did. The ferro rod will remove the coating. I was also expecting blade damage, but there is none at this point. I stropped the factory edge on my old leather strop and ran a fine ceramic over it until I could not feel any catching ( that took about 3 strokes per side.) So over all, this is a fine knife for bush crafting. People who will denigrate it and nay say are people who feel a need to elevate themselves based on their need for name brand recognition. Yes the Esee3 and the Rat3 are 1095 and are well known, and they work. So does this CIMA. How many of you will buy an Esee 3 at $80.00 and also buy a 2nd one for a back up???
Now the sheath has been catching bad reviews also. I see that there are shortcomings with the sheath, but if you are completely stumped by a sheath and cannot fix or modify things on your own, you do not need to be out in the bush trying to survive using your skills.
First thing is to add your own paracord to the bottom in a usable length. Simple easy and quick. I added a quick leather loop to hold a ferro rod. 2 screws out, punch holes and 2 screws back in and done.
Now I will take a heat gun and fold the edge of the sheath opening to tighten up the hold on the knife and add a safety loop and then I will carryit into the woods and have no worries what so ever.
If you just need to spend 130.00 on your bushcraft knife so you can join a particular forum, then TOPS are sold on Amazon also.
