Much simpler than I expected
When I first saw the straps and hooks on this, my first thought was, "This is going to be a real hassle to install and my wife is going to hate it."
I was wrong.
It took me less than a minute per side (driver's side & passenger's side) to install.
Done.
Since our dog sheds like a beast, my wife never wants to take her car any time we go anywhere with the dog. Sure I drive a truck and it's not always immaculate inside, but that doesn't mean I welcome a bunch of dog hair in the cab. I'm so glad that this seat cover solves that problem. My wife doesn't hesitate to let us take her car anymore, because the dog's hair isn't an issue any longer.
My second surprise came after that first use. I asked my wife where she wanted me to store this in the garage. She told me not to bother. She said that it folded down small enough that it wasn't a problem to keep it in her trunk.
Done and done!
I love how functional this cover is. I love that it doesn't take forever to install it. And I love that it folds up small enough to fit out of the way in the trunk. Very nice.

EDIT (March 2015):
This weekend my wife told me I need to review this again. I tried to explain to her that it doesn't work like that. You review something once and only once, and then you move on with your life. You get one bite at the apple and then you move along. She wasn't hearing any of it, not one bit.
So here's an account of our recent experience. The dog I mentioned in this original review crossed the Rainbow Bridge late last year. She was an amazing part of our family and could never be replaced. Nevertheless, we have a wonderful puppy now and she is quickly earning herself the same irreplaceable status in our family. She's awesome. Poor puppy though, we took her on a whirlwind trip this weekend. We drove from So Cal to Utah after work on Friday, spent the day visiting our daughters who were there for the weekend, and then turned around and drove back home on Sunday. That comes out to about fourteen hours on the road in a 48 hour span, pretty brutal for a young creature. She was a champ, but at one point the motion got to her and she went into full on Linda Blair mode and vomited and vomited and vomited. Poor girl. I didn't think her little body could contain so much bulk to vomit it back out.
This seat cover was a godsend. I was able to safely pull over at the next stop and we quickly cleaned up the mess and took care of puppy. I couldn't believe how simple it was to clean up the mess. It's evidently constructed of some puke-resistant fabric, because nothing soaked in and there wasn't even a detectable stain. Better yet, none of the smell soaked into the fabric.
Aside from that one incident, puppy was very comfortable on this quilted seat cover and there was no mess left on the car seats after this marathon trip.

ANOTHER EDIT (May 2016):
We've had some "life changes" this year. I upgraded to a nicer/bigger pickup truck (yay!). Also my mother in-law had to move into assisted living and her dog now lives with us. So we have a bigger back seat in the bigger pickup and we also have twice as many dogs (mom's dog is a retriever and she's a big shedding beast). The seat cover fits pretty well in my truck. The two top straps go over the headrests just fine, the PVC thingies slide into the crotch of the seat and hold it in place well, and the bottom straps fit around the base of the seat *pretty* well, but not perfectly. We're definitely stretching the size of this cover beyond its limits just a touch, but it's still very functional. It's funny to look at the seats back there after we take the cover off, because there is just one patch in one part of the seat that is absolutely covered with hair. I can't imagine what that back seat would look like without this cover. I'm glad I only have to clean that one little patch that this cover doesn't quite reach.
I should also mention that I've bought three more of these quilted covers over the past few years. We have them for our other cars and my mom also got one for her car. She has two St. Bernards and her shedding problems are infinitely worse than ours. If I were her I'd put these things in the house too.
