Great kit -- problems sourcing extra parts
Bought this so I could design and build some soaker hose systems for my raised vegetable beds. We've used soaker hoses in the past but have always bought the already assembled hose and wound it around the plants in our garden, which worked well but I figured if I was going to buy more hoses why not buy this kit and design the layout I wanted. OVERALL I would buy this again and may actually do exactly that. It was easy to install and works well, even though the soaker hose connector-to-garden hose meeting leaks a little it works as it should. The kit is great. It contains… 100 feet of soaker hose (I didn't measure it but it looked about right when I uncoiled it), 4 female ends for attaching a garden hose, 4 male ends, 4 T connectors, 4 plugs (to plug the unused ends of the T conectors), and 2 "feeders" (simply a T connector with a female 'soaker hose-to-garden hose' connector). The instructions and assembly are simple. Jam the hose into the connectors at least a 1/2 inch to ensure it doesn't slip out when in use and cut to fit your need. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that the amount of connectors that come with the kit are fewer than I would like, and the pieces are RIDICULOUSLY expensive if you buy them individually, and big box stores don't carry the right size parts (I will be checking a irrigation specialty store to see if they sell cheeper parts that fit). The Miracle Gro kit is actually manufactured by Swan so they are the people to buy additional pieces from (Miracle Gro doesn't sell them individually) but personally I'd rather buy 2 gallons of gas than one or two plastic connectors. That being said, after building and installing the soaker hose systems for my two raised beds I still have 2 female connectors, 2 male connectors, and a decent length of hose. In the future I can make one long hose or two shorter hoses, or buy another kit and mix and match the parts. I would recommend this to a friend and would buy it again. I've uploaded some pictures of one of my raised beds and it's the one with blue tape over the feeder.
