A story that'll stick with you
10-year-old Grace needs help. Her mother is hooked on drugs and Grace has no one to turn to. She is dangerously close to being put into "the system." Her neighbors, spurred by Rayleen--a product of "the system" herself, band together to take care of Grace and concoct a plan to get Grace's mother back to being a mother.
I just loved this heartwarming story . . . it was funny, sad, and just plain great to read. It reminds me of Hyde's book, Love in the Present Tense, because of the unforgettable characters. I'll be thinking about Grace and Billy Shine for a long while.
