I wanted a smaller, yet strong, umbrella. The Repel Windproof umbrella does the job. The price was relatively inexpensive, so I wondered about quality, but I am pleased to say, it looks good and appears to be made quite well. I keep it in my work backpack so I'm prepared when the rains appear unexpectedly. Good bang for the buck here. UPDATE: My Repel windproof umbrella no longer closes nor opens. I've changed my ranking accordingly. 'Bought slightly over one year ago. The mechanism worked fine up to a day ago, then suddenly it would not extend to fully open. And when I tried to close it, the collapsing center jammed. So for all intents and purposes, it's useless. Umbrella mechanics is not rocket science and this is is the first umbrella I've ever had (and I've had many) that actually broke. It's a simple mechanism and the fact that this one failed so quickly leads me to believe that the quality of manufacturing isn't that good. Too bad because I thought this was good bang for the buck. Now I believe it's a waste of my money. 3rd UPDATE: the sellers stand by their warranty! I told them that it was broken and they sent me a new umbrella without hassle or returning the original. Your customer service makes all the difference -- thank you! Folks, this umbrella has a lifetime warranty.
