This was a camping purchase, as we live in Colorado where there are frequently burn bans. Who wants to camp without a campfire?? We got this because it could be self-contained with the lid and handle being easy to place. (more about that later). It is a GREAT little campfire. Hook it up to your propane tank (there is a VERY long cord so you're not tripping over the propane tank, and it can be out of the way) and it puts out quite a tall and warm flame. It is PERFECT for places where you want or need a campfire, but do not want the hassle of smoke, building a fire, or like us, have burn bans. (We looked at the Big Red Campfire as well, but it was TINY once we saw it in person.) As an aside, the outdoor grill of our camper was not working. We did NOT want to just cook everything in doors, so we took a grate, placed it over this bowl, and cooked on the grate. Of course, ALWAYS follow manufacturers instructions, and we probably should not have used it that way, but it worked like a CHAMP for us when we realized that we had no way at all to cook outside. Pros: Very compact and easy to store -GREAT flame; tall but not too tall, warm and inviting Cons: The lid is easy to get on, but the stretchy straps that hook over the lid to form the handle can be a bit of a pain to handle.
